Olivia Rodrigo Releases New Single Vampire – Her First Since Grammy-Winning Debut Album ‘Sour’

On Tuesday, the “Deja Vu” singer-songwriter unveiled her next single “Vampire,” Olivia Rodrigo first new official single since the May 2021 release of her Grammy-winning first album Sour.
The 20-year-old former High School Musical: The Musical: The Series actor will release “Vampire” on June 30, marking a new era for her. A press release describes the single as “the sound of an artist firmly in control, imbued with a sense of maturity and a bold confidence.”
Rodrigo wrote the song with producer Daniel Nigro, who also worked on the whole Sour album. Fans can pre-order the song on Rodrigo’s website in CD and 7-inch vinyl formats.
Sour, the debut album by Olivia Rodrigo, won her the best pop vocal album award at the 2022 Grammys. She also took home the trophies for best new artist and best pop solo performance. Her hit song “Drivers License” earned her the latter honor.
She started on the sold-out Sour Tour across North America and Europe shortly after the awards presentation. Avril Lavigne, Alanis Morissette, Natalie Imbruglia, and Lily Allen sang duets with her during the tour.
On the one-year anniversary of Sour in May 2022, the singer-songwriter published a collection of retro photographs and video snippets from the album’s creative process and promotional cycle on Instagram.
“My first album SOUR came out a year ago today,” Rodrigo said in the description of the image. “It is impossible for me to put into words how much this album means to me and how grateful I am to have had the opportunity to create it and witness its existence in the world.”

Rodrigo posted a snapshot of the first Instagram message she received from Nigro, 40, after posting a photo of several dozen autographed copies of the album’s lyric booklet.
